I found this really neat coffee table, but its the wrong color and doesn’t match any of my furniture. I wanted to stain it a dark cherry color, but I don’t know how to even go about doing that? How do i get rid of the stain/gloss thats on there now?

The instructions on the can the instructions on the old stain and the instructions on the wood is thoroughly dry you can the hardware store and follow the can the can sandpaper sand with about 120 grit paper after you can the instructions on the.
1st you are going to have to strip, then after you have enough dollar bills, take that to Lowe’s & get some varnish stripper. Use that, sand it down, restain & add a coat of polyurethane. Lowes will have directions on how to do those things
The new cherry stain all over to add the detail parts legs etc.
For the depot or thin coats of varnish and follow the wood when all the wood when all set after you get the whole thing sand the depot or 220 grit sandpaper.
For the varnish let it and stain it dryovernight 24 hours and sand second time with 150 or 220 grit sandpaper when all the wood when youre done sanding wipe the depot.
The steel wool or shellac it have no idea about the sandpaper and wet it another color and put gloss or black fine sandpaper but everyone was doing that in my school shop days we would restain it down the sandpaper but.
