I want to renovate my grandparent’s old coffee table, what should I do to it? Should I paint it a solid color, stain it, paint designs on it, paint it with a pattern, a texture? I don’t have any ideas. Any help?

P.s. The table was stained a dark brown but it has a lot of scratches and dings in it. There’s rings from glasses etc.
My room is turquoise And I don’t necessarily want it to match, but I don’t want it to clash.

Mrs. G asked:

I have a birch wood entertainment center, and a light blue sofa (it is the hydra color sofa from Rooms 2 Go). I am going for a beachy look & feel. Our walls are a sand color with white bead board half way up.

Would a white coffee table look out of place with the birch colored entertainment center? I thought if I got a birch coffee table it would be too matchy matchy…I would like to know others’ opinions on this.
Thx!

I am going to paint my coffee table with a design and don’t want it to get scratched, what can I use to seal/protect my painted table?
This table is used alot so it needs to be durable.

How do I fix a coffee table?

Filed Under coffee tables | Comments Off

Hip, hip, lady asked:

I broke my roommate’s grandmother’s coffee table and I need to fix it before she comes home. The bottom shelf broke in the seam of a panel, so it isn’t split. Can I just wood glue it and nail it back together?

I just purchased my first piece of new furniture for my loft. I will be buying new pieces starting next year. I am going for a modern theme. The coffee table is an eggplant shape, light birch wood but the legs go up “through” the table about 7″ and a second glass piece rests on top. What would look good on the table?

I have been redecorating my apartment and I have been trying to find a coffee table. I found a really interesting one on craigslist. It is an apothecary table with many drawers on both sides…very big. It got me to wondering, how did coffee tables originate and what exactly is the purpose of them? To put coffee on? Most of the time they end of collecting junk, but they do look nice in living rooms.

I have a coffee table made with wood veneer and one day I was burning candles on it and I accidentally kicked the table and wax splattered all over it! I’ve scratched some of it off, but I’m afraid I’ll scratch off the finish! Is there an easier way to get it off? I’d really appreciate any advice!! Thanks in advance!

Had some friends over, did some drinking, woke up to a pool of vomit on the coffee table. I scrubbed it a few times with various cleaning products, but it still has a lingering smell. What’s the best method for knocking out the odor?
